The Modern Woman

Many women experience menopause as though their body is betraying them, as if they are losing something essential. This can stir deep emotions, such as:

  • Fear of ageing
  • Feeling unworthy of love and attention
  • Fear of not being attractive enough
  • Feeling useless or "past their use-by date"

Sally, a woman in her in her early 50’s, found herself navigating the unpredictable changes of menopause. Her confidence vanished, her emotions felt out of control, and sleepless nights drenched in hot sweats left her exhausted. Her moods fluctuated wildly, her libido disappeared, and she struggled to meet the daily demands of life while feeling like a stranger in her own body.

For many women, the first instinct is to seek medication a quick fix to regain balance.

But modern society has conditioned us to see menopause as a problem, rather than honouring it as a profound transition. For too long, we have ignored the sacred wisdom of our bodies, treating them as burdens rather than vessels of transformation.

I always say: “Body symptoms are your body’s way of calling your attention to imbalance, guiding you toward healing.” Menopause is no different.

Embracing the Wisdom of Your Body

"Menopause is a time for women to embrace their inner power and step into their truth, rather than mourning lost youth."

This is an alchemical process a transformation from one phase of life into another. It is the shedding of an old identity fertility, mothering others and an opening for self-creation, free from conditioning.

When a woman fixates on her symptoms or views menopause as a flaw, she disconnects from her power. This disconnection prevents her from stepping into a higher, wiser vibration of being.

Common Symptoms of Menopause – and Their Deeper Meaning

Brain fog – Often arises when a woman resists the transition, clinging tightly to her past identity (whether as a mother, a youthful presence, or in relationships that no longer serve her).

Hot flashes – May be a physical manifestation of repressed anger, typically held in the liver. When emotions remain unexpressed, heat builds up internally, eventually rising to the surface in waves. This can be alleviated by acknowledging and safely releasing stored anger.

Belly weight – The belly is the home of the sacral chakra, where creativity and dreams take form. If these energies remain unexpressed, they can manifest as physical weight. This may be a sign that your creative power is calling you, urging you to bring your dreams to life and prioritise yourself.

How to Honour This Process

Menopause is a sacred chapter, not a loss. When we embrace this transition as a spiritual awakening, we reclaim our power.

🌿 Practice self-compassion – Your body is not failing you; it is guiding you. If self-care has taken a backseat in the past, now is the time to embrace deep nourishment with love and grace.

🌿 Reconnect with your inner wisdom – Your DNA carries ancestral knowledge. The traditions of the wise women before us have been forgotten, but they live within you. Honour yourself as the wise woman you are, and use this time to rediscover your truth.

🌿 Seek support – This journey does not have to be walked alone.
